The main gameplay loop of Thrive revolves around reproducing and editing your species. Once you reproduce, you will gain access to various editors depending on your stage.

Generations and editor sessions

Every time you enter an editor in Thrive you advance one generation. You can then view statistics, change location or perform other changes to your species. This is referred to as an editor session.

Mutations and Mutation Points

Every modification you make to your species is a mutation. This includes placing organelles, upgrading them and importantly even removing them. Every mutation you make to your species will cost you Mutation Points MP, otherwise referred to as MP. You always will only get 100 Mutation Points per editor session. They do not carry over or accumulate.
